Overcoming a Mockery Life…

Written by Listowell Sarfo Ababio.

"And be thankful… singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (NIV) Colossians 3:15-17

I was anxiously waiting for my high school results; little did I know that very cold water was going to be poured around my bones. Many who knew me were hurt and disappointed. They asked questions like, “how can his core math paper be cancelled; did he do something wrong?” Many concluded, “Oh! Perhaps he cheated.” Honestly, you would have thought the same thing because what at all would cause one’s paper to be cancelled if not cheating, especially when others’ papers have been cancelled due to examination malpractices. Even I doubted myself a little. But could this be possible; would God allow this to happen; has God ever left me this way before? These are the questions that were dangling on my mind as I heard people asking and telling me about what had happened to my examination results.

Sometimes we are played by life’s deceptive tricks. Unfortunately, those who are very vulnerable are caught by the web it casts and tend to be fooled by the delicacies of the things it offers. This deception goes ahead to challenge our beliefs and asks questions like: if God…..why did …happened? It is so easy to yield to such deception within an eyes’ twinkle because of how much the fleshy part of us has overcome the “soulish” which has immensely affected the way our spirits respond to what we believe to be true. I believe as you read this you have been able to recount any experiences you have had in the past. Did you cry when that thing occurred, it is okay; did you complained, when you failed that exam or business, God says I understand; were you disappointed by what you did some time ago, it is very normal; are you disturbed right now, good; do you have to say goodbye to something or somebody, it is okay to change your mind; whatever complaints you have and however you are reacting to them, I believe it is a very nice step in the right direction. God has implanted them in you, exercise them. Never deny yourself the feeling of remorse, regret, failures, disappointments or discouragements.

In exercising such emotions, let me ask you this question, how have you directed these feelings to a positive end? Exactly! That is the only difference between being deceived by the devil and outsmarting the devil. Remember, the devil always rejoices over our trials, thinking he has overcome us but Alas! Little does he know that “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed, we always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body” (2 Cor 4:8-10). Beloved one, we have every reason to feel perplexed but in our perplexity we feel the joy of being counted worthy of the suffering of Christ.

Has the end of your suffering been always bitter or better? Please show me your bruises and I will heal you with your blessings. Today, I sing for joy because God knew what He was doing during my high school days, likewise those who were pseudo-affected. I believe you are also praising God for turning your difficult moments into blessed ones.

As I borrow words from Marianne Williamson and Paul, be always reminded that;

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously

give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,

our presence automatically liberates others.- A Return to Love

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim 1:7)

I want you to know that Gratitude is like a flower, if you do not express it on time, it will wither even before sun set and the beauty it carries will not be shown even if you express it a million times after. When all is remembered we say;

Thank you LORD! for a blessed year.
