Be led, be safe, and be saved
"The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace." (NKJV) Exodus 14:14
Annie Johnson Flint (1866–1932) was a poet and hymn writer whose words continue to inspire faith and perseverance. Orphaned as a child and later afflicted with debilitating arthritis, she faced immense struggles. Yet, through her suffering, she wrote poems that reflected deep trust in God’s guidance and care. One of her most well-known poems speaks to the challenges we all face and the faithfulness of God:
"Have you come to the Red Sea place in your life,
Where, in spite of all you can do,
There is no way out, there is no way back,
There is no other way but through?"
There are times when life’s challenges seem impossible to overcome. Uncertainty and fear can make us feel trapped, but just as God made a path through the Red Sea for the Israelites, He continues to make a way for those who put their trust in Him.
"Then wait on the Lord with a trust serene,
Till the night of your fear is gone;
He will send the wind, He will part the waves,
Though the tide may seem so strong."
Faith calls us to wait on God. Even when we cannot see a way forward, He is already working on our behalf.
"When you stand in the midst of the stormy sea,
And your heart is filled with dread,
Lift your eyes to the One who rules the waves,
And by His hand be led."
No matter how uncertain life may seem, God is always in control. Be led by His wisdom, be safe in His promises, and be saved by His grace through obedience.
