Faithful faces

Written by Alhassan Mohammed Sandargo.

"Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on." (NIV) Mark 2:3-4

At its core, prayer is simply talking to Jesus and bringing our hearts before God. Faith is not always about personal needs—it often shines brightest in acts of determination for others. In Mark 2:1-12, four men carried their paralyzed friend to Jesus, convinced that He alone could heal him. When they arrived, the house was overflowing with people, making entry impossible. Yet, instead of turning away in defeat, they climbed to the roof, tore it open, and lowered their friend before Jesus. Their faith was not passive—it was persistent, creative, and unstoppable.

These men could have waited for another day or given up when faced with obstacles, but their faith took action. They refused to let barriers stand between their friend and his healing. Their determination reflected a deep trust in Christ’s power, proving that faith is not just belief but movement. Jesus, seeing their faith, forgave and healed the paralyzed man. Their actions became the bridge between helplessness and restoration (James 2:17).

Faith often requires bold steps (Hebrews 11:6). Like these four men, we must sometimes break through limitations—whether fear, doubt, or physical barriers—to reach God’s promises. True faith does not retreat at difficulties; it presses forward, finds a way, and expects results (Matthew 17:20).

When obstacles arise, will we abandon prayer, stop at the door or climb to the roof? Faithful faces are those who act, knowing that with God, nothing is impossible.
