Secure your family

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

"And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord " (NKJV) Joshua 24:15

Nothing in this life comes by accident and there a purpose for everything we do under the sun. The family system was carefully designed and strategically placed on earth by the divine Creator (God). Anybody who forms a new family or is part of the family must understand, preserve and promote the family system and order as planned by God.

To secure one’s family, we need to put our families in the hands of the Creator. You may have read all books and apply principles learned from others but without God, the whole family is not safe. Let us submit ourselves to the power and principles of God to safeguard our families. We should consult God on our family decisions and take godly counsels from others whom God will place in our ways.

After consulting God, we need to take firm decisions and try to live by them. We need to be firm and disciplined on certain issues and insist we do right as a family especially in the Lord. Satan can destabilize the family through any member. All family members should be united and fortified in the Lord.

There are many forces that fight us in our families to bring us down. Some of these challenges may have come from our decision and others may have come from our family chain. Sin from any member of the family will cause a great disaster upon the person and the rest of the families. Achan caused the death of his entire family even though he did not plan to steal with his family (Joshua 7:25). That is why we need to secure the family from sin by praying and cautioning each other.

As God has blessed us with another beautiful morning like today, let us not only think about providing material resources for the family but to also ensure our families safe and secure in the hands of God.
