When Satan prays
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”(NKJV) 1 Peter 5:8-9
Indispensable is the tool of prayer to the believer. It is a means of talking with the God of heaven and earth and this is knowledge well known to Satan. Thus, Satan seizes the opportunity in the presence of the Lord to also make indirect requests, not only against Job of yesteryears (Job 1:11) but also against the saints of today, both day and night (1Peter 5:8).
But many believers have not been watchful and consistent in prayer (Romans 12:12). The adversary realizing this, maneuvers to pray too, in trying to accuse us before the Father, and in seeking more room to operate for our destruction-he just has no integrity, we must remember (John 8:44).
However, our loving and gracious God at best allows Satan to act, but only on God’s terms, with the good intent of justifying us against the accuser (Romans 8:1). In effect, Satan prays too, and could even exhibit great importunity, and yet with no integrity (Job 1:6-12).
Nonetheless, the effective prayer of the righteous when saturated with integrity does avail much (James 5:16) and does move mountains (Mark 11:22-24). We are the Lord’s and He cares to always nurture us to the attainment of the stature of Christ (Ephesians 4:13) who epitomizes integrity.
Lord help us against the devil's prayers. Amen.
