A happy life

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

Whenever a new year begins, everyone hopes for the best in everything life has to offer. A happy life does not come by accident or by chance but by choice. We are all blessed with the opportunity to make changes in our lives and to enjoy the consequences of our choices. To be happy, I suggest the following based on the scriptures.

1. Find something to love

The world has nothing good to offer humanity. Loving the world and the things of this world will lead to more frustrations and disappointment. “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever” (1John 2:15-17). The only thing that can make you happy is to love God and the people created by love. Love God with all your heart and with all your might (Luke 10:27).

2. Find something to do

We all have a choice to do whatever we decide to do. However, to be happier we must work for God. Let us labor for the Master from dawn till setting sun. Let us talk about all His wondrous love and care. The result of this action is happiness. Working for God may initially seem burdensome but the end always brings joy. Find something to do for God and experience a new life of happiness.

3. Find something to hope for

If money and physical possessions are your sources of independence, you will never be content. Hope keeps humanity alive and gives us reason to press on with life no matter the challenges. Unfortunately, what many people keep hoping for results in more pain because they are canal and subject to variation. Keep your hope in Jehovah and he will never disappoint you. God wants you to be happy as you leave for heaven. Be happy by obeying God and trusting Him in all things. Get better and not bitter by keeping your hope in the Lord alive. Amen.
