Wait upon the Lord

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“But as me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my savior; my God will hear me." (NIV) Micah 7:7

The era of modernization has changed the world in the most dramatic way. Everything is done at the fastest possible time. We have the quickest transportation and communication ever in human history making human interactions so easy and fast. The time for getting results for human activities like agriculture and cooking has been reduced, thanks to modern skills and technology. We have higher expectations in whatever we do with less waiting time, but Christians are encouraged to be patient and wait for God at each step of our lives.

God is still directing His children in the world through His Holy words, the environment, other people and circumstances we face every day. God wants us to wait for Him to build our faith, direct our paths and prepare us for future challenges (Ps. 27:14).

There are so many benefits to waiting on the Lord because He always makes the end glorious. Job is the best example for us. Not waiting for the Lord has terrible consequences. We lose the favor of God like King Saul (1 Samuel 13:1-14). We delay God’s planned blessings for us like the Israelites in the wilderness (Joshua 5:6). Pain, suffering and disappointment may befall us.

Beloved, “be still before the LORD and wait patiently; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry their wicked schemes” (Ps. 37:7). No matter what you are going through now, live right according to God’s words and wait upon the Lord. He will surely make a way. Amen
