In all things

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus"(NIV) 1 Thessalonians 5:18

In my personal encounter with people, especially other Christians, I have learned that one of the most challenging bible verses to implement is this one (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Most often, we fail to understand why we should thank God especially when the circumstances surrounding our lives do not give us the push to do so.

Obviously, when I am hungry and you ask me to thank God, it is going to be a tug of war. However, that is exactly what God expects from us: To give thanks IN ALL THINGS; good or bad, hungry or satisfied, plenty or paltry etc. This seems to be a challenge to us Christians but we forget that we are more than conquerors in all situations (Romans 8:37). If we all accept God’s blessings; prosperity and good health, why do we frown on bad times (Job 2:10)? Beloved, we ought to develop the attitude to thank God in every situation.

“For we know that ALL THINGS work together for good, for they that love God and have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28)”.
