Sustaining grace for difficult times

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

"But he said to me “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”…. "(NIV) 2 Corinthians 12:9

More frequently, I am challenged by unpleasant circumstances to live for God. There are times when I want to give up on everything I hold dear to in Christ, just so I could explode, making all those who make me suffer to get a feel of the pie. I wish they could see what my anger could give birth to; agony and hate.

But any time I feel annoyed, there is this still voice that whispers this message; “For you have not suffered to the point of shedding blood for the trials that you are going through”. And when this happens, I remember the Apostle Paul, who at many times was annoyed by the attitudes of the gentiles- Corinthians, Galatians etc. yet he spoke to them and responded with deeds and words of love and grace. With this, I begin to truly understand God’s grace. He told Paul, his grace is sufficient for him (2 Cor. 12:9). So in my difficult moments, I seek the grace of God to sustain me.

I may not exactly have an idea of the challenges you are going through, but I know of a Grace that can sustain and keep us from sin. It is God’s Grace. The Apostle as well as I benefited from this Grace (Jesus) and so can you.

Reach out for the Grace that can sustain you in difficult times, so you can overcome them.
