Creating Relationship Maps for the Great Commission

Written by Emelia Darko Adzimah & Worlanyo Komla Adzimah.

"Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (NIV) Matthew 28:18-20

This devotional is inspired by the McCarthy Hill Congregation in Accra, Ghana. One pragmatic and resourceful way of going about the great commission is building relationship maps. Breaking this down, the internet defines a map as a diagrammatic representation of an area of land or sea showing physical features, cities, roads etc. A relationship map is also defined as a visual diagram that allows you to see a broad view of connections between business and social entities.

Preachers and church members could go about this great commission personally by forming meaningful relationships with family, friends, the society in which they live and everyone they meet. Having a relationship with someone makes it easier and it is a more effective way to share the gospel. How does one start a relationship then? A smile, a greeting, a helping hand, an advisor, a sweet tongue, a listening ear, a non-judgmental stance, a friendly attitude, the list is endless!

It is our duty to bring people to Christ and this could be done easily and effectively by sharing the word through a relationship map! God bless you.
