The beauty of love

Written by Alhassan Mohammed Sandargo.

"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." (NIV) 1 John 4:8

Since love has severally been abused (arguably), in its very definition by many, I have chosen to rather show, instead of defining what love is. First, I have an excerpt from the autobiography of a lady who conquered all odds through the hands of love. In her struggle to break through her very consciousness, Helen Keller who could not help but yell and scream was regarded by even her mum as mentally incompetent. She had become deaf-blind from age two. After sixty years, this is what the “stricken” Helen (that is, some five decades ago) had to tell the world about her teacher Annie:

“It happened at the well-house, where I was holding a mug under the spout. Annie pumped water into it, and when the water gushed out into my hand, she kept spelling w-a-t-e-r into my hand with her fingers. Suddenly I understood. Caught up in the first joy I had known since my illness, reached out eagerly to Annie’s ever-ready hand, begging for new words to identify whatever objects I touched. Spark after spark of meaning flew from hand to hand and, miraculously, affection was born. From the well-house, there walked two ruptured beings calling each other “Helen” and “Teacher”.”

Now, we can be certain that more than Helen’s words are the eternal words in the Bible that remind us that, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son...” (John 3:16a) and that “…God is love” (1 John 4:8). The love of God and His unmatched tenderness to us, in moment paces, are as old as eternity (Ephesians 1:4, Romans 8:29). We are truly made for love and love in action certainly conquers: impossible doors are opened, noble courses are attained, physical boundaries are torn down, and discouragements are jettisoned and hidden are stimulated.

Your hand can be a hand of love to someone today. Stay blessed.
