And whatever we do
"And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father."(NLT) Colossians 3:17
Since God chose us to be the holy people He loves, we must clothe ourselves with tender-heart, mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Let us treat each other as better than our selves, because we represent God here on earth. If we are indeed his representatives on earth, then we must be aware that our father is praise worthy being. We must understand as well as admire his nature which causes everything in the universe to sing praises unto His name. The psalmist sings of his praise in chapter 95:1-7:
Come let us sing to the LORD
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation
Let us come to him with thanksgiving
Let us sing Psalms of praise to Him
For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods
He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains
The sea belongs to Him, for he made it.
His hands formed the dry land too
Come let us worship and bow down.
Let us kneel before the Lord, our maker for he is our God.
We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.
So in whatever we do or say, it must aim at giving thanks to God. The Jerusalem Church in the first century ceased not to praise God as they enjoyed the favour of all the people around (Acts 2:47). In like manner, our appearance in public must speak well of our faith and give others the opportunity to thank God too. As our Lord Jesus command, we must conduct ourselves in such a manner that people will see our good works and glorify the father in heaven. As human as we are, we seek the acceptance and praise of others and our God needs our praise even more. We have been created for such a purpose. He will not do it for himself. If we fail, stones will do it in our place. God needs our praise in whatever we do.
