Thanksgiving through worship

Written by Eddy Amihere.

"Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!"(ESV) Psalms 95:2

Bible reading: Psalm 95:1-7

Worship, by its nature and design, is an expression of love and devotion. Love for God, for who He is and what He has done for man. This should motivate one to worship Him without ceasing.

1 John 4:9 states, “We love Him because He first loved us.” To know God and His love is to be filled with love and thanksgiving for Him. When we are looking for reasons to be grateful to God, we often look for the tangible and material things. For example, increase in salary, promotion, new car or house. Consequently, days, weeks or months we or our families spent away from the hospital little crosses our minds. The truth is the savings made from good health could be far more than the increase in salary, for example. Beloved, if we were to pay for the air we breathe, I believe we may have a greater cause to be thankful to the one who has been paying for us since we were born. Paul rightly said "Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!" (2 Cor. 9:15, ESV).

Let your 'tank be full’ of praises and pour it out through worship today and the rest of your life. Worship provides a means of expression for that thanksgiving and love. In Psalm 95:1-7, the Psalmist shows how Israel, under the Old Law, used worship to express their thanksgiving to God. This is a valuable example we can emulate. We are encouraged to worship God not because we feel we are commanded to but to worship him because we owe it a duty to express our love and devotion to the One who has given us all that we have and received. God bless you.
